General guidelines

:: Basic information
    The manuscript should be on hand as a laser printout on white paper. Photocopies are unsuitable. Please avoid wavy paper after printing. Make sure that the printout is straight and parallel to the sheet edges.

    We need your manuscript printed single-sidedly in A4 format.

:: Formatting
    The printed area should be equally positioned on all pages (front and back).

    The margin (top, bottom, left and right on the page) should be at least 2 cm.

    The space between the page numbers and the text should be the same on every page.

    In case you have a line at the top of each page, make sure that they are always congruent.

:: Size of writing
    The font size should be chosen big enough, so that the text is still readable when scaled down. The size in diagrams and pictures should not be smaller than 6 pt. (2 mm).

    Illustrations have to be pasted into the text with assembly glue (e.g. Marabu Fixogum) on all four edges.

    To distinguish different areas in graphics, please hatch or rasterise them. The density of dots should not be finer than 28 lpi.

    Please avoid fine lines (less than 0.3 mm) in formulas and illustrations.

:: Paging
    Page 1 in the manuscript is the title page of the author.
    See exceptions for
    specialist book , conference proceeding and thesis .

    Page 2 (back of page 1): blank page.
    See exceptions for
    specialist book , conference proceeding and thesis .

    Page 3: publisher's page and
    Page 4: copyright page is designed by the publisher.

    Page 5 (if necessary also page 6) contains the preface and/or credits by the author.

    From page 7 or from the table of contents as the case may be up to the beginning of the text, the pages should be counted in Roman numerals.

    In a book, all odd page numbers are to be found on the right. Therefore, chapter beginnings should always be on the right side (i.e. a page with an odd number). The main text has to be paged continuously in Arabic numerals. If there are an appendix or figure pages after the text, they have to be paged as well.

:: Photos, images, graphics and grey scales:
    Grey areas of different gradation should be provided with a grid pattern that is not finer than 28 lpi (lines per inch). Please paste photos into your work with assembly glue. Photos are not easily reproducible, they have to be rasterised. In case your work contains scanned illustrations, please make sure that in they are rasterised coarsely enough the printout. It is also possible to hand in all graphics separately as a postScript-file; we will insert them into your book then. Please bear in mind that their size (in the postScript-file) has to be the same as it is supposed to be in the final format.
